A/C update and Play Doh! February 28, 2008

Steve sent a very serious email to the builder of our house after I called Capital Air and told them our problem. A rep from our builder called that day and said that he was going to make sure that we were taken care of and scheduled a sit-down at our house with said rep and the manager at Capital Air for this upcoming Monday. The rep also said that Capital Air wants to replace the copper tubing in the entire house as this is likely the source of the leak. They have replaced the coil and the thermostat so this is the most likely cause at this point. I say NO WAY! They are going to have to rip out the entire system and replace everything. I’m not willing to test out another leak theory, however likely it may be, so that in a few months when it’s really hot and Capital Air is really busy we can wait for them to “fix” another problem meanwhile Miles is miserable and hivey. NO WAY! I hope the sit down doesn’t get to heated cause we don’t have any air to cool us down!!!

In other news, I made a batch of rice play doh yesterday and Miles was in heaven! My older boys used to love to play with play doh. I used to make homemade playdoh with koolaid packets and it would smell so yummy! Since we’ve had Miles all of our playdoh collection has been neglected. I had gone through and hand washed all the toys and tools a while back so that if I ever got my hands on a good allergy free recipe the toys would be ready to go.

Lance and Miles had a blast! Blake wasn’t too interested, I guess he’s too old for play doh:P

And an apology…I said that my blog wouldn’t just be about allergies but good grief!! That’s my life! Apparently I don’t have anything else to write about:) Oh wait…I feel another post coming on….

Alvin and the Chickymops January 9, 2008

Yesterday we took the crew to the movies. We rarely go as a family anymore as it’s a huge ordeal. We have to bring a big sheet from home to make a “safe zone” for Miles to sit in the seat and not be physically attacked by food proteins. And we have to smuggle  in contraband food so he can actually have a snack at the movies. There is NOTHING that the sell that he can consume.

We saw Alvin and the Chickymops (as Miles calls them, and we make him say it allll day long!). What a boring, stupid movie. Oh wait, I think all movies are boring and stupid. What can I say, I have no attention span!

An uneventful event. I had 4 allergy-free cookbooks waiting on my doorstep (thanks N.!) and I had a moment of joy as I leafed through them. Until I realized that while they may be good for some people with one or two allergies, they aren’t really helpful for us having an allergy to everything-under-the sun. Sigh. I did see a recipe or two that I will try to modify. Can’t wait.
